I have not had a perfect semester in terms of grades since my senior year in high school. I graduated from Guilford with a GPA of 3.43, which is not bad, but it was also not what I desired. My senior year, I made above a 3.6 each semester and was proud of my accomplishment. This past semester at LMU, I earned a 4.0. My first straight-A semester since high school.
I fully believe that I earned a 4.0 because I claimed it at the beginning of the semester and believed that I could and would accomplish it.
Power lies in the words we speak. I chose to speak success and life; therefore, I reaped what I spoke.
I was beyond excited to complete such a successful semester, and I am ready to do it again. I know I have the ability. God is with me, and with Him, all things are possible.
A little change of topic...
It is a new year, and with this new year comes a new beginning. I brought in the new year with Dan and a few of my friends here in Tennessee. It rained nearly all day on the first day of the New Year. While riding to Knoxville dinner, it suddenly crossed my mind how appropriate it was that it rained at the beginning of the year.
For me, 2010 had its joys...but it was also a very tumultuous year. Life literally felt like a roller coaster. As soon as I thought everything was going up, it started going back downhill. I found new life at Rockbridge during the week after my college graduation. I had finally learned to accept my Heavenly Father's love. It was an indescribable feeling; I cannot even begin to describe it in words. And it came at the perfect time.
However, as we humans sometimes do, I forgot that feeling of love when life became difficult again. Then I moved to a different state. I was in a new place dealing with the old hurt. I did not really feel like I had the chance to start over and rebuild.
Now, it is different. Tennessee feels like a second home. It doesn't feel foreign to me anymore. Bringing in the New Year in Tennessee is symbolic for me. I can finally begin rebuilding. The rain from Heaven has washed away the dirt left from years past. More healing and growing can now begin.
Just as it was painful for Eustace to go through transition in The Chronicles of Narnia, so it will be with me. Growing does not come without some sort of pain.
Just as the rain fell on Tennessee on the first day of the New Year, so has the rain of Heaven fallen on me and cleaned the area for new life.
God is always with me. His grace will bring me through.
I am looking forward to the opportunities set before me. Opportunities to grow. Opportunities to impact others. Opportunities to learn. Opportunities to love. God has set me on this path and in this place for a reason. I know He will never leave me; He will never lead me astray. There is a rekindling in my life. May the flame forever grow bigger and brighter.
